It's been very busy fishing around and I finally can post report of tuna popping trip in Panama in May. I fished on 110' luxurious mothership of Panama Sport Fishing Lodge. I've been fishing Panama about 10 times and I think this trip is the best as far as tuna popping is concerned. Best option for you will be the Finnor Lethal 100 if you can find one, around $99-$120. Cabo is a good second choice but watch the handle. If I have to connect heavy mono leader line to heavy fluoro carbon leader line, I'd rather use barrel swivel with short 4 - 6 ft fluoro carbon leader line as any knot to connect heavy mono and fluoro must have a high profile no matter what kind of knot you use and the use of swivel is much stronger.The fish isnt goin to die because it has a treble in its mouth apposed to a single hook. You might have a better hookset with a single hook AT TIMES, but your going to get more chances to set the hook with the treble. WIth fish like tuna, they set the hook themselves so the hooks get buried the same way regarless of a treble or single.Here's another vote for the Makaira 20/30 for 200-400lb tuna. I personally think Talica 25II is out of it's league with 400lb class fish in the mix, Talica 50II is probably the next logical choice if you're going with Shimano.
