There is a HUGE growth spurt at 3 months. Babies tend to eat more and sleep like newborns as you said it seemed. Baby has most definitely not forgotten how to sleep as sleep is not something to be taught. It is developmental. Many times babies go through sleep progressions early which is totally normal!.
