Its the 1st model year so I would expect problems, they need to work out the kinks. I test drove a 2011 MK6 and it was rattle city inside. My 2014 is MUCH improved, if you must have a Jetta try to wait for the next MY, they will probably add back the independent rear suspension and might even offer the 1.8T again

The 2.0 Jetta is really slow, but really cheap to maintain and reliable. Like really slow. IMHO...Jetta = better driver ; Camry = more reputable reliability. If you maintain it well, the Jetta will likely be fairly comparable in reliability. I have had three A4 Jettas and one A2. All were very reliable. If you or someone you know have a Costco or sam's club membership, buy a AGM battery there and they can replace it for you or it's honestly really easy to do it yourself. AGM batteries last longer and have better cranking amps, plus it's recommend for vehicles with the start stop. Its a hit and miss. The new model Jetta’s have a lower overall cost to own through the life of the car, as well as excellent reliability. Feel free to try to find some resources proving your point because the data is actually the other way around. The Camry scored 82/100 on reliability, the VW 85/100. The Jetta had lower maintenance over the course of ownership. View community ranking In the Top 5% of largest communities on Reddit. 2019 Jetta SE vs 2016 Sport . Some of the lower trim Jetta can get slightly more power if you run premium (min 87, 93 recommended) If you have a Jetta that just says 87 on the gas cap then running premium won't do anything beneficial. Great mpg (40s), even full with passengers and luggage. The engine is powerful (plenty of power even at 60-100mph). The transmission is nice and fast and the car loves getting up to highway speed. Make sure you have a VW shop or dealer near you, maintenance every 10k miles.Edit: 2019 Jetta Premium and went with an H6 AGM battery. TerrTheSilent • 10 mo. ago. As the battery dies and the car goes into survival mode - certain things will be disabled (like the air conditioning). This has to be reset after the battery change. When I had my 2017 changed - it was the same price at the dealer as it was at a non dealer shop.Doesn't happen as much as a year or two ago but I've heard it still does with imports. 2023 se I just bought for 22 after a 5 k trade in. From what I understand allotment for Jettas right now are pretty low per dealerships. My dealer didn't get any this month yet but we keep getting GTI, Atlas and Tiguans. Personally I think 30k is a bit ...the prius gets 50mpg on gas. The TDI gets 40mpg on diesel. Assuming high numbers; 200 miles driven - Prius = $3.50 * 4 gallons = $14 TDI = $4.00 * 5 gallons = $20. 20000 miles driven - Prius = $3.50 * 400 gallons = $1400 TDI = $4.00 * 500 gallons = $2000. So, your opportunity cost is $600 per year.

No I wouldn't worry at all… I don't think the 2019 model has transmission issues (im probs wrong but i never saw this)I think that was the year before because all 2019 models were given a six-year warranty versus a four year warranty I have the same car.

The 1.8t from 2015-2018 is probably the most reliable Jetta engine ever built in my opinion. Maybe some carbon buildup here and there.
